The Bureau of the Commission is a contact and coordination point. The provenance researchers working in it support the Commission management and its members working directly as provenance researchers in federal museums and collections. It also deals with the numerous inquiries from victims and their families or legal representatives, and from researchers, students and journalists in Austria and other countries. Apart from administrative and research tasks, the Bureau performs an important archiving function for the Commission’s research findings and also manages the relevant files from archive of the Federal Monuments Authority.
